The upward spiral

June 11, 2021

Many people talk about a downward spiral that they themselves have experienced, or indeed, witnessing others do it. This is on an emotional level and regularly moving down the spiral can lead to depression, anxiety, issues of self-worth, not improving your insecurities etc.

It is possible to be a person who can move up the spiral - in a positive way, where you can allow yourself to feel important guiding emotions such as sadness, anger, jealousy - then consciously make  a decision that you don't wish to remain there and find ways to move yourself up.

This doesn't mean you go from sadness to joy in a second ( although this is achieveable), but it does mean making the effort to incrementally move yourself towards a better feeling place.

Set a new policy for yourself - No Complaints!

May 17, 2021

Setting out on a detox for your body is often easier than doing the same for your mind. However, detoxifying the words you choose to describe yourself, your experiences and your desires is equally important. Rethink the power of your words and have fun finding new words to express yourself. You may find that you become more empowered; feel that you have more control over situations and your reactions. Coming from a position of being positive and not 'griping' can  serve you in many ways. So next time you go to complain, listen very carefully to yourself.

Hailing in 2021 - Do not set goals

January 1, 2021

Rather than goal setting - which many people find can motivate them (without inspiring them), which in turn ends up becoming a burden that they carry around and developing self-defeating mantras such as - I should do this...I'm meant to be doing that....leading to.....I never end up achieving my goals....I'm hopeless....why do I bother?
Easy remedy. Don't set goals. Try re-evaluating your values and better understanding what is really important to you in your life right now. It may be that spending more time with your family is important to you because it gives you a sense of security, or of feeling loved or even a feeling of accomplishment. Once you have determined these values, then make incremental steps to help yourself connect with them more often.
